On the following dates, prospective graduate students will have the opportunity to audition, meet with current students, tour the facilities, and discuss curriculum and program requirements.

Instrumental Auditions


Piano

Piano auditions are February 4, 2012 and February 25, 2012 (for both graduate & undergraduates).

Strings

Students should contact Dennis Parker at dparke5@lsu.edu for more information.

Flute

Flute auditions are February 11, 2012.

Students should contact Dr. Kemler at kkemler@lsu.edu for more information or if they cannot attend on this date.

Saxophone

Saxophone auditions are: February 25, 2012.

Students should contact Dr. Griffin Campbell at gcampbe@lsu.edu for more information or if they cannot attend on this date.

Brass & Percussion

Brass and Percussion auditions must be scheduled with the appropriate faculty member. Please visit the Schedule an Audition/Contact Faculty page.

Clarinet

Clarinet dates are: February 13th,18th & 25, 2012 in M&DA Room TBA

March 4th, 2012 in M&DA Room TBA

Roy King, director of the Tiger Band, will be there as well to consider candidates for band scholarships. DATE TBA. Hours for auditions are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall.

Below you will find the 2011-12 Audition material for the LSU Clarinet Studio. The following information is intended for perspective students wishing to audition for the LSU clarinet studio. For additional information please contact the LSU school of music or Prof. Robert Dilutis directly.

1. 3 Solos of Contrasting Style (include one complete concerto)
2. 2 Etudes by Rose (choose one slow and one fast etude from the 32 or 40 studies)
3. 5 Orchestra Excerpts (contrasting styles)
4. Sight reading


Vocal Auditions



Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24

All applicants must complete and submit all required application materials to both the Graduate School and the School of Music prior to being granted a live audition. This includes the taking and submitting of a score for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for doctoral applicants.

A prescreening CD is required of all applicants and, for full consideration, is due by November 20, 2011. January 4, 2012 is the FINAL deadline for acceptance of prescreening CDs. CDs should be mailed to the attention of Dr. Loraine Sims, Coordinator - Vocal Arts Area, Louisiana State University, 102 New Music Building, Baton Rouge, LA 70803. If granted a live audition, applicants will be contacted by Dr. Sims and an audition will be scheduled at that time. An accompanist will be provided for the live audition. Applicant does NOT need to submit titles or photocopies of selections prior to live audition.
