School of Music Graduate Assistantships
(Apply by March 1 for Fall admission)
- Stipend amount: varies from $6,000-$14,000 per year (includes a possible
supplemental award to outstanding doctoral students).
- Award waives non-resident
tuition; student must pay resident tuition/fees.
- Duties: 10 to 20
hours per week, depending upon award size
- Duty assignment
areas: teaching, accompanying, research and teaching assistance,
recording, clerical.
- Summer tuition
is waived after holding assistantship for two semesters.
- Early application
is advised (awards offered beginning March 1).
- Secure application from School of Music, Office of the Director of
Graduate Studies
(The SOM application serves as the application for assistantships.)
Other Awards
- Minority Tuition Waivers (Apply by February 15 for fall admission)
- Eligibility: minority, or citizen of country under-represented
in the University population. (Highest preference is given to students
from Latin-American countries and to African-Americans).

- Each year, numerous music scholarships are available through the gifts
of alumni and patrons. All School of Music applicants are automatically
considered for these opportunities
