A confirmation letterwill be sent to you upon receipt of your application and camp fee. A Camp Handbook (PDF) can be downloaded from this site (see above). This handbook contains the camp schedule, phone numbers, and other important information.

YOU will be a part of something special at the 2004 LSU Tigerland Auxiliary and Leadership Camp. One of the SouthÕs largest camps of its kind, youÕll be offered the best of instruction in the areas of flag, rifle, drum major and officer leadership.

FLAGS and RIFLES have the option to choose from several different routines each day in addition to strengthening basic fundamental skills. The number of routines you take home depends on the number of participants from your school. All routines are videotaped and available for purchase. Instruction is held indoors.

DRUM MAJORS and OFFICERS are offered a variety of learning opportunities and experiences at the Tigerland Auxiliary and Leadership Camp. Basic teaching strategies, peer relations, conducting technique, score reading, mace and marching fundamentals are some of the areas which will be addressed. We believe in offering a well-rounded experience for the student leader/conductor. Special recognition and awards will be given at the CampÕs final recital on Thursday.

INSTRUCTORS are one of the main reasons we have so many students return year after year. The nucleus of our staff has been teaching together at this camp for over ten years. You will have the best in instruction, and at the same time, have great fun. We believe in challenging you to do your best while enjoying what you do. AWARDS comprise a large part of our camp philosophy. All students are recognized for their participation with a complimentary camp T-shirt and certificate. In addition, the Flag and Rifle area receives achievement ribbons for each class session. These ribbons count toward the overall Sweepstakes Award given on the last day. This award is based on a combination of daily class evaluations, home routine participation, and spirit baton accumulation.

SPIRIT BATONS are awarded on a daily basis. The batons are given for outstanding spirit, hard work, determination, and courteousness. In order to be eligible for a Sweepstakes Award, your school must receive at least one spirit baton during camp.

JUNIOR HIGH /MIDDLE SCHOOL groups are eligible to attend the Tigerland Auxiliary and Leadership Camp providing at least one sponsor and /or chaperone attends with the group. No exceptions.

SPONSORS are welcome and encouraged, but not required, to attend camp with their group. Two sponsors per school may attend the camp as residents free of charge. Additional sponsors pay housing and food cost costs only.

HOUSING AND FOOD are available for resident students. The residence halls are air-conditioned and meals are served in a dining unit close to the resident hall.

INSURANCE AND HEALTH CARE are covered in the basic tuition fee. This covers only basic accident insurance. Students will be referred to the LSU Student Health Center for all medical necessities.

HOME ROUTINE EVALUATION is offered to those schools who participate in our Colorguard Home Routine night. This is a chance to share different ideas and styles among schools, plus receive feedback from the staff. The staff will be available to give comments and suggestions before the evaluation.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP: twin size bed linens, pillow, blanket, towels, soap, personal articles, alarm clock, tennis shoes, practice clothes, school uniform for home routines (optional), flags and pole, rifle, and spending money. Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home. If you bring a cassette or CD player, make sure your name is on it and keep it with you at all times.
