Katia Madsen (Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education) conducts the Women’s Chorus, teaches courses in vocal and choral techniques, and serves as advisor to the American Choral Directors Association Student Chapter at LSU. Madsen received the Bachelor of Music Education and the Master of Music Education degrees from Florida State University and taught public school choirs in Orlando, Florida. She received the Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Louisiana State University, and served on the faculty at Syracuse University. Madsen has conducted honor choirs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels throughout the region. She has published research articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Research in Music Education, and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Music Teacher Education.
