Katia Madsen
Choral Music Education

Katia Madsen (Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education). Madsen conducts the Women's Chorus, teaches courses in vocal and choral techniques, and serves as advisor to the ACDA Student Chapter at LSU. Madsen received her B.M.E. and M.M.E. degrees from Florida State University and subsequently taught public school chorus and general music in Orlando, Florida. She received her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, and served on the faculty at Syracuse University as an Assistant Professor of Music Education.

Madsen has published a chapter on inclusive music education and has authored and co-authored published articles on teaching effectiveness in the Journal of Research in Music Education. She currently serves as the chair-elect of the Learning and Development Special Research Interest Group.
