Linda Moorhouse
She is a past recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award from the LSU School of Music, as well as, the Scroll of Excellence, Silver Baton and Golden Rose from the Women Band Directors International. She received Louisiana's Phi Beta Mu Outstanding Bandmaster Award this past fall. Outside LSU, Moorhouse maintains an active schedule having appeared as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States, Western Europe and Canada. Currently, she is President of the National Band Association, and is the Louisiana Chair of the College Band Directors National Association. A Past-President of the Women Band Directors International, she is an elected member of the American Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu, and also serves on the Sudler Committee of the John Philip Sousa Foundation. In addition, she has served as a Research Associate for three volumes of the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series (GIA Publications). She is a contributing author for the book, A Composer's InsightVolume II, published by Meredith Music. She is a past editor of The Woman Conductor, the official journal of the Women Band Directors International. Moorhouse received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Florida, and a Master of Music Education degree from LSU. She is currently a degree candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting degree at the University of Washington in Seattle.
