Faculty Vacancy-Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy

RANK/SALARY:

Assistant Professor, full-time, tenure-track. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

 

DUTIES:

Teach undergraduate and graduate piano pedagogy. Supervise group piano program. Supervise graduate teaching assistants, related student teaching activities and final projects. Direct and advise BM and MM pedagogy majors and doctoral minors in Piano Pedagogy.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. or D.M.A. in Piano Pedagogy or related field. Demonstrated achievements and experience in piano pedagogy and group piano. Evidence of, or potential for, an outstanding record of scholarly research and professional activities.  Experience with current trends in technology as related to piano pedagogy. Ability to perform, teach, and critique the standard solo literature considered an asset.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The LSU School of Music offers a comprehensive music program with nearly 500 majors. It has approximately 50 faculty, 10 professional staff, and 75 graduate assistants.  It sponsors over 300 recitals, concerts, operas, and lectures each academic year.  Degrees offered include the PhD (with concentrations in composition, music education, musicology, and music theory), DMA (concentrations in choral conducting, performance, wind conducting), MM, BM, BME, and BA (Liberal Arts).

LSU has an enrollment of approximately 29,000 students and is located in Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana and a city with a metropolitan area population of approximately 500,000.  The city supports a symphony orchestra, a ballet company, and professional theatre and opera companies.
